The Story of Prophet Ibrahim (A.S) for Kids

Prophet Ibrahim (A.S) is one of the most important prophets in Islam, known for his unwavering belief in Allah and his dedication to spreading the message of monotheism. His story, full of challenges, tests, and miracles, offers valuable lessons for children. In this article, we will explore the story of Prophet Ibrahim for kids, breaking it down into key events that highlight his faith and perseverance.

Prophet Ibrahim (A.S) was born

In the ancient land of Babylonia (present-day Iraq), a boy named Ibrahim (may peace be upon him) was born to carry forth the message of the prophets of the past.

The young Ibrahim (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) could not reconcile his father’s beliefs with the wisdom Allah had already granted him. He knew deep within his heart that these statues, no matter how elaborately crafted, could neither speak nor hear, let alone offer guidance or protection. This understanding set him apart from his people, including his own family, who continued to follow the ways of their forefathers.

Ibrahim (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) was determined to challenge these misguided beliefs. He realized that the people around him were trapped in a cycle of ignorance, worshipping idols that could do nothing for them. The idols were mere stones and wood, lifeless and powerless. Yet, the people revered them, attributing to them powers they did not possess.

As Ibrahim (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) grew older, his conviction in the oneness of Allah only deepened. He understood that there could be no deity worthy of worship except the Creator of the heavens and the earth. This belief was not just a thought or an idea; it was a profound truth that guided every action and decision in his life.

Ibrahim (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) began to speak out against the idol worship practiced by his people. He questioned their logic and reasoning, asking them how they could worship things they had created with their own hands. But his words were met with resistance. The people were not ready to abandon the beliefs and practices they had inherited from their ancestors.

Despite the hostility and rejection he faced, Ibrahim (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) did not waver in his mission. He continued to call his people to the worship of the one true God, Allah. He knew that the path of truth was not easy, but he was willing to endure whatever hardships came his way for the sake of fulfilling the mission entrusted to him by Allah.

Prophet Ibrahim’s Disdain For Idols:

Ibrahim’s father hoped his son would join the priesthood and revere the idols as he grew older. But as Ibrahim (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) grew, his aversion towards idol worship also grew. He frequented temples with his father and was vexed by the sight of numerous idols of various shapes and sizes.

What was once a funny joke soon began to get under his skin and anger him more and more. Ibrahim (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) pondered how the statues, who were idle and could not eat, drink, or speak, could help people in need. He saw the idols for what they were; he knew his father created them, then sold them to the people who, seconds later, would be prostrating to them, asking for all kinds of things.“

He said to his father,
“Do you take idols as deities? Indeed, I see you and your people to be in manifest error.”
